Coláiste Choilm came out victorious in a tight encounter with Ardscoil Rís. Both teams gave it their very best, and played some lovely football.
Coláiste Choilm opened the scoring, Darragh Stewart slotting the ball over the bar, but Ardscoil Rís quickly responded with a point of their own right after. Straight after that, the Ardscoil Rís centre forward was played in through the middle, which resulted into a goal. Not long after, they put over a 45, extending their lead to four points.
It was even enough for the next ten minutes, neither teams pulling the trigger, and Ardscoil Rís rattled the crossbar, but soon after they got the ball near the corner, and put a lovely score over the bar. Both teams then shot a few wides, but the Charlie Heffernan got pushed in the back in front of the D, and Paddy Burns pointed the free.
Ardscoil Rís were defending well from then and shut down some attacks, one of which led to a nice point on the counter attack.
They scored another point straight after. But Cian Multanie Kelly, Stephan Murry and Darragh Stewart each slotted over a point to reduce the deficit to 2 points. Ardscoil Rís then scored again before the break to make it 1-6 to 0-6 at half time
Both teams scored twice early in the second half, and the pressure both attacking and defending from Coláiste Choilm was very good. Soon after, Cian Horkan scored a brilliant point, and shortly after, Darragh Stewart took on his man and scored another point. Coláiste Choilm were moving the ball very well, attacking Ardscoil Rís skillfully.
Patrick Duffy fed the ball to Charlie Heffernan, who slotted it over the bar off the post. Liam Jones put in a great tackle to save a goal. Then Eoin Rouse powered forward and scored another point. Coláiste Choilm then kept up the attacking pressure, and kept getting close to scoring. Ardscoil Rís then responded with another point. Then the Ardscoil Rís centre forward got the ball and gave it out to number 10 near the sideline, who fired over a 2 pointer. The crowd went wild at this. Then Paddy Burns played it in to Hugh Kelly, who slotted it into the bottom corner to win it for Coláiste Choilm.
